World Music Awards, Miami 2012
|
The countdown for the much anticipated World Music Awards has begin. The biggest awards show that has the most following from music fans in the Arab World is going to be held on the 20th of December in Miami, and the world's best selling most popular artists will be honoured. So who are the best selling Arab artists for this year?
According to the WMAs organisation and "Hitmarker.com", who held a wide tracking for album sales, the best selling Arab artists of 2012 are:
- Amr Diab: Although his album "Banadeek Ta'ala" was released in late 2011, it maintained its success garnering remarkable sales in 2012.
- Cheb Khaled: "C'est La Vie" album entered the charts last October, making a noticed success, specially in North Africa and France.
- Elissa: Her "Asa'ad Wahda" album debuted at #1 back in June, and went on to sell a large amount of records staying on top of the best-selling album charts for 10 weeks in a row.
- Nancy Ajram: Her last album "7" stayed in the charts until April 2012, making a record of 78 weeks on charts. Her new album "Super Nancy" debuted in September and still at #1 in the best-selling Arabic albums charts.
- Shireen Abdelwahab: "Esa'al Alaya" album was released in early 2012, it stayed on top of the charts for a long period all over the Arab World.
And for the first time ever, Arab stars have been nominated alongside American and International stars for the "World's Best Artist" category. Amr Diab and Cheb Khaled are nominated for the "World's Best Male Artist" award. Elissa, Haifa Wehbe, Nancy Ajram, and Shireen Abdelwahab are nominated for the "World's Best Female Artist" award. Meanwhile the votes continue on Facebook for the "Best Video" and include Amr Diab's "Banadeek Ta'ala", Elissa's "Tesadda Bemeen", and Nancy Ajram "Baddak Temshi Fik".
The competition gets tough for winning the World Music Awards just 3 weeks away from the show, which will be broadcast live on the top TV networks in 180 countries around the World, reaching over 1 billion viewers.
And as always, the World Music Awards sends a humane message of peace, gathering the biggest stars for a charity goal, as all profits from the ticket proceeds of the show will go to the victims of Hurricane Sandy in Haiti, New York and New Jersey.
